Tetra-Detection GPC/SEC Applications Report
A report titled “Characterization of Branched Copolymers by Tetra Detection GPC/SEC” describes polymers that are complex both in terms of structure and composition, which presents difficulties for conventional GPC/SEC techniques. The report discusses the analysis of four copolymers samples (one linear and three branched) on a Tetra detector system with OmniSEC software. Results show how molecular weight, intrinsic viscosity, and molecular-size data were obtained directly and how, using the software, the amount of branching was determined in the three samples relative to the linear reference. Ratioing the response from the two concentration detectors (RI and UV), the authors determined chemical composition differences in the branched samples, correcting the limitations of using a single detector by delivering rapid determination of a true copolymer concentration profile.
